QMAP Achievements

The Quality and Measurements Directorate in collaboration with Bahrain Polytechnic community has made several achievements over Quarter 2. Among these achievements are participating in the INQAAHE International Conference to present the Polytechnic journey in moving to online offering creating an international presence. The other key achievement is collaborating with the Polytechnic tutors to undertake the constructive alignment exercise to show how they have moved online by identifying the areas of strength. Several the tutors participated in a local conference to share their findings. A full review was undertaken for the virtual student exchange programme. In addition, several policies and procedures have progressed in the review and approval process. Also, a wide range of surveys have been administered to support the operations of the Polytechnic.

This section demonstrates the progress movement in the QMAP Directorate Strategic plan from Q1 to Q2, where 14 out of 17 measures have been made progress comparing with Q1, and 3 measures have remained flat; where a one measure was completed in Q1 and considered as progressed measure

1. Conduct training programmes for BP community and external stakeholder

2. Design and implement institutional Frameworks
-Amend BP Institutional Survey Framework.     - Approved BP Institutional Survey Framework 50%

A several sections of the framework has been updated and altered. All the newly added surveys recently have been embedded into the framework with detailed information of each of them. A consultation process has been conducted with concerned departments to ensure accuracy

Amend BP Benchmarking Framework based on the pilot studies. - Approved BP Benchmarking Framework 50%

The framework has been amended considering the pilot studies with other higher education institutions.

The pilot study resulted in adding two new benchmarks and adding a new benchmarking procedure at programme level

3. Run benchmarking exercises for key aspects
Facilitate and follow up 3 benchmarking exercises (academic/ corporate) in collaboration with the concerned unit 100%

– Undertaken 3 benchmarking exercises with 3 different EDICT programmes and added the actions related to the QIP master after AB approval.

– Facilitated the improvement actions from the benchmarking exercise with Ahlia University before adding them to the QIP.

-Facilitated the benchmarks related to IMCO benchmarking exercise to all directorates

4. Facilitate the ranking exercise for Bahrain Polytechnic
Undertake an objective analysis of how the selected ranking agency carries out its global survey on this topic and provide a report to Bahrain Polytechnic 0%

5. Enhance the communications of surveys matters to BP community. “Closing the Feedback Loop”

Amend the current student services survey to reflect online education and support services. Send the amended survey for wilder consultation 100%

Student services survey has been amended to be in line with the online education approach. A consultation process was conducted as well.

Administer a new student services Survey 100%

The student online services survey was administered and conducted in the second semester; during the time period 21 March to 16 April 2021. The number of responses was 252 which provided a response rate of approximately 11.7%.

7. Amend the Evaluation, Review and Improvement Policy to review online and digital education provision.
Investigate automating the course review and program review and amend the Review, Evaluation and Improvement policy accordingly to meet the virtual learning culture at Bahrain Polytechnic 75%

-The Evaluation, Review and Improvement Policy after comprehensive consultation has amended its APR and course review processes considering QM standards for online provision. Several capacity building meetings have been conducted to undertake the constructive alignment exercise for course review.

– QMAP team investigated with ICT team on the 27th April 2021 the possibility of automating the program and course review and waiting for solution and implementations to be given by ICT team.

-On the 24th May 2021 QMAP had followed up with the team and still waiting for their suggested implementation to be given.

Undertake a pilot course review by using Quality Matters rubric 100%

Pilot course review using Quality Matters rubric have been undertaken with number of programs in which it shows the effectiveness of amended course and program reviews

8. Acquire a system to digitalize the QMS activities of BP​
Piloting to automate and optimize the survey processes 25%

A meeting has been held to discuss the survey process and a workflow chart process has been communicated. Flowing the flow chart, a request ticket raised with approval of the quality director and next step to have a meeting soon on June to move step forward for automation.

9. Contribute to the polytechnic strategic initiatives: Internationalization
Facilitate the arrangement of the 1 forum at least - Internationalization framework 25%

– The committee has been established.

– The agenda of the forum have been decided and identified.

– A proposal has been drafted.

11. To participate in the INQAAHE conference in June 2021 about polytechnic experience in moving to digital education
The INQAAHE paper presented at the conference 100%

The prepared paper has been accepted by INQAAHE and will be presented at the conference during the conference time period 7 – 10 June 2021

Additional measures for 2021:
